And thanks for the favor that you did me six months ago. Now, I'm in United States thanks to that. See you in the eternity.

The usual suspects: a puzzle for the watcher

The usual suspects, a film by Bryan Singer, is a movie for the people who like the challenges. Finding to Keyser Söze before the end appears is the biggest one.

And all elements in this movie are fixed to be a part of that challenge. The flashback, the shadows, the jumps sequence- which sometimes are related with subtitles (six weeks ago), and other times with zoom in movements, everyone is part of this goal.

The director chose non-incidental music which highlighted the suspense sequences.

Even though he is not the main actor, I liked the work of Benicio del Toro, possibly because I’ve seen him in another movies (Che, my favourite), and he looks a little weird. He is a very flexible actor, and in this movie he appears like a Latin man: the costume, the hairstyle. And I liked the other casting members too, but Del Toro was the best.

Not only were the puzzle, or the casting good for me, but the camera aesthetic was excellent. I was a cameraman and I really like this profession. And when I’m watching a movie, I put my head in this element.

Singer uses closed shots, shadows, movements, lights, and another elements with the goal of his puzzle. For example, in one shot the camera is focused on “Verbal” as he is taking a cup of coffee. The zoom-in approaches to his head as he is answering to the cop. It was the way which Singer selected to do a jump in the storyline.

This puzzle it was a really good movie for me. I liked it a lot despite despite the fact I could not understand the sense of some scenes.

Living in United States 4

The life here is the best. Sometimes I miss my costumes, my people, my city... but in the other hand I fear the time is going pretty fast... Today was the first classes day, I feel preety good because I have a high level English (according to my teachers).

But the most important time has been out classes, sharing with friends in the downtown, going to the stores, to the clubs, just walking on the streets without a North. Boston is an excitement city. I would like that Latin American cities, some day, some year, take a note of this "civilization".

In the Radio news, I listened to Janeth Napolitano, the US Homeland Secretary. It's crazy the concerning of the people here for the terrorism threat. Yes, I know that is an important topic for the "American" people, but in my country we are concerned about not only for the terrorism, as the drug trafficking, the kidnapping, the corruption, the violence for the illegal right forces, the insecurity in the cities... Now I should leave 'cause my roommate is going to sleep.

Living in United States 3

I'm having a real fun and astonishment time!!! Coming to a city, try to understand his dynamics, his systems, his weather is a real excitement experience. I would like to be here for a long time.

I got lost today in the streets of this city. I tried to find a way, i tried to be available to look for myself. The language is improving in spite of I don't have a class yet, and that I spoke a lot of time with a Mexican boy. the school was deceiving because there are a lot of teenagers who speak french, chinese, spanish or whatever language in the world: except English.

I shared a light moments with a Peruvian and a South Korean girl. We walked through a walk way for almost one and a half hour, the Washington memorial, the churches, Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks, lakes, busses stop, in the cementery. Now I can hold some conversations with the Bostonian people: in the bus, in the park, asking for information, going in a cab to arrive early to class. In fact, I´m going to sleep now 'cause tomorrow I have an early class and I should wake up almost at 6:30.

Tomorrow I'll be in a tour for Bostonian architecture. I hope it will be in Fenway. Yes, I know there are another better places here (in the architect topic), but i want to walk by Fenway and take a picture of mine in front of the Fenway park.

Living in United States 2

I´m watching the Oscar Film awards, and I would like to understand the US people. Im here for that, more than the language.

And I would like remind a sentence of Avatar movie: Its no possible to fill a brain which is full. Now, I dont want to have prejudice, i want to receive as knowledge as possible. Yes, i should to think in English, in the future, but i want to give an opportunity to recoignaze that the us people is not the people that i shout against them: they don't have the responsability of Colombia plan, Irak war...

As I'm seeing the Oscars the people talk about their dreams, goals and other thinks that personality is. I'm happy, really happy to be here, despite my leftist ideology.

Its interesting to see the tv advertisings. How stupid should you be do to buy a Mercedes Benz who arrive to an exhibition after broke a 2 by two meters window?

Now i want to see precious, the hurt locker and other couple of nominated movies. Avatar has won the best director film... before Avatar just the Lion king (in this kind of movies) had been as amazing like avatar.

Costume design: the young victoria. By Sandy pao. She is good design costume, but not her dresses.

The women in the house has her computer in Spanish. She asked me for to read something, and i discovered something amazing: now i'm speaking spanglish.

Living in United States 1

I arrived yesterday as the sun rise but the could is worst than in Bogota. Afortunadly, I'm not as rich as a student who paid to live in a comfortable place. I live in a United States house with pets, some obesity people, a big tv, american food and a lot of US flags. They are a really family like you can see in the movies.

This is my first trip abroad, the first signal in the passport, the DAS process, the first time in other hour use, the first time in which a rude cop ask me, what are you doing here. I come to study English. Why? In Colombia the Engllish is not the national language.

Boston is a beauty place, where all has a order. Yes, i know that when i was in the university i yell against the United Stated, against the globalization, against the imperialism. But now, here, after read to Moore, I think that the US people is different to the politics, to the economic or to other things which we are worried in our countries. Some of them not to know where Irak is, what is the economic policies of his country, or what the petroleum is a problem. Some of them think the climate change is no a problem... I should leave now, i'm going to visit a Museum and a University.
